Peru is an competitive platform for Asian companies in the Latin American’s Pacific as the Andean country provides ample opportunities to develop business and reach the top markets of North America, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, said Peruvian President, Ollanta Humala.
"Peru offers opportunities to invest in large projects, in sectors in which Asia has a remarkable advancement and understanding," he said during his speech at the annual conference of the Boao Forum for Asia, held Sunday in the framework of his official visit to China.

These are such diverse sectors as sustainable and modern urban areas, especially in rural areas by investing in housing, sanitation, telecommunications, broadband, electricity and transport as well as logistics infrastructure through the construction of ports, airports, railways and roads.

"This area is vital to increase Peru’s competitiveness through a total investment of over US$ 40 billion and for achieving the country’s energy integration and the use of natural gas in order to meet the growing global demand market", Humala said.

President Humala stressed that  Peru has a commercial offer that in most sectors is complementary and provides a wide variety of high quality products such as agricultural and fishery and new export products to meet regional demand.

"The acceleration for access to Peruvian products will enable us to realize the concrete benefits of trade agreements," he said while participating in the panel "Latin America: Transformation of the New World" of the Boao Forum for Asia.

However, he said the economic growth and increased trade are insufficient if they are not accompanied by policies which extend their benefits to the population equitably.
