Investment expectations in Peru go through a period of strong expansion as investment-friendly regulatory framework is sped up, Economy and Finance Minister Alonso Segura said on Thursday.

“Investment expectations, as well as private consumption, have entered a period of strong growth,” he underlined.

In this sense, all regulatory frameworks have been upgraded so that they can be handled more efficiently and transparently, and can safeguard State interests.

Solutions have been found to issues surrounding the key problems facing infrastructure investment projects, such as expropriations and interventions.

“We have passed an expropriation act that provides a much more efficient expropriation framework and incentives encouraging a direct negotiation,” he affirmed.

The direct negotiation is part of the phase prior to the expropriation process, in which the property owner hands over the property voluntarily with monetary incentives equivalent to the appraisal.
