Peru's National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) Head Anibal Sanchez led on Tuesday the inauguration ceremony of the "Lessons learnt by National Statistics offices on the Accession Process to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)" workshop.
Such event gathers representatives from Spain, Colombia, Mexico, Costa Rica and Chile.
It aims to spread experiences, strategies and good practices regarding Latin America's national statistical offices involved in the process.
The said workshop is held in Lima on May 24th on 25th, 2016.
OECD
The OECD aims to promote policies that will improve the economic and social well-being of people around the world.
It provides a forum in which governments can work together, share experiences and seek solutions to common problems.
OECD works with governments to understand what drives economic, social and environmental changes.
Country Programme
Peru participates in the Country Programme implying a series of related
actions aimed at taking advantage of the process and recommendations
resulting from it.
Peru is among the first nations to engage with the OECD through such mechanism.
On May 7th 2014, the OECD Meeting at the Ministerial Level recognized
Peru’s interest in engaging in a Country Programme and offered a formal
invitation.
On December 8th 2014, in the sidelines of the Ibero-American Summit of
Heads of State, Secretary-General Angel Gurría and Peruvian President
Ollanta Humala launched the Programme.
