Between January and November, primary sector activities —mining, fishery and farming— continued boosting national production, Peru's National Institute of Statistics and Informatics informed.
The said activities accumulated a 5.71% growth.
"This is the case of: mining and hydrocarbons (7.35%), farming (2.23%) and fishery (10.61%) sectors," the INEI Head Anibal Sanchez explained.
Mining and Hydrocarbons
During the first 11 months of 2015, mining and hydrocarbons sector expanded by 7.35% driven by greater extraction of copper (22%), gold (0.1%), zinc (9.1%), silver (7.6%), lead (13.9%) and molybdenum (18%).
Antamina, Chinalco Peru (Toromocho), Antapaccay, Buenaventura, Volcan and Hudbay Peru (Constancia) companies contributed to the result.
Farming
In the said period, the farming sector grew by 2.23%.
This growth was boosted by the favorable results from the livestock (5.5%) and agricultural (0.2%) sub-sectors.
Fishery
On the other hand, the fishery sector registered a 10.61% increase, due to greater fishing of anchoveta for indirect human consumption (37.5%).
