Peru govt, German KfW inked two loan contracts

Germany’s Kreditanstalt fur Wiederaufbau-KfW and Peru’s Economy and Finance Ministry-MEF signed two loan contracts worth US$68.3 million in total, whose resources will be allocated to infrastructure projects supporting people in northern Lima.

The first loan of US$24 million will provide partial financing of a Sedapal project to improve drinking water and sewage systems, sector distribution, networks, and land registry in Huachipa, Oquendo, Sinchi Roca, Puente Piedra and sectors 84, 83, 85 and 212.

The second one worth US$44.3 million will partially fund a Cofide project of renewable energies and energetic efficiency.

The ceremony on Thursday featured Friedrich Kitschelt, State Secretary in the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), as well as German Ambassador to Peru Jörg Ranau. The signing was conducted by Economy and Finance Minister Alonso Segura Vasi, and KfW Lima Office Director Silke Hermes.

Segura welcomed the Financial Cooperation that KfW performs, as it will help increase Peru’s energy supply and improve the quality of life of those living in the north region of Lima Metropolitan area by improving the drinking water and sewage systems. 

The maturity period for the Sedapal loan is 15 years, including a five-year grace period, while the Cofide loan expires after 12 years and has a grace period of three years, with a fixed interest rate of 3.7% and 2.0%, respectively.
