The Peruvian Executive Branch has created a multisectoral group for the repatriation of ill-gotten assets from the Swiss Confederation and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

The measure was made official through a Supreme Resolution published in El Peruano official gazette.

The document stipulates the said team will design an action plan, as well as propose agreements to be signed with both Switzerland and Luxembourg to seize the resources, which remain frozen in both nations.

The recovery of such illegally-acquired assets aims to strengthen Peruvian institutions in charge of investigation, processing and legal defense of the State.

Similarly, it will enhance the administration of justice in terms of combating corruption and international organized crime. The measure is also geared towards the development of justice system goals for corruption offences.

The team will be composed of Foreign Affairs officials. Said sector will preside over the work group while assuming the lead of the Technical Justice Secretariat through the National Commission of Seized Goods (Conabi).

Said committee is given a two-year period for the task and will be officially set within five business days, counted from the appointment of each member.

The resolution bears the signatures of President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski, Prime Minister Fernando Zavala, Justice and Human Rights Minister Maria Soledad Perez Tello, as well as Foreign Affairs Minister Ricardo Luna.
