Peru: Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister to attend APEC meetings in Philippines

Peru’s Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister, Magali Silva, will participate at the Ministers Responsible for Trade (MRT) Meeting, as well as bilateral gatherings organized by the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) in the Philippines.

These meetings will be held on May 23-24 in Boracay.

On this occasion, the officials are expected to adopt measures based on the agreements reached in previous technical gatherings. Among those are: Supporting the Multilateral Trading System, and thus, the World Trade Organization (WTO).

The Regional Economic Integration Agenda will be addressed by assessing relevant information related to the work plans and the Free Trade Area of the Asia-Pacific (FTAAP) study's terms of reference approval.

These meetings also aim at promoting the participation of SMEs in regional and global markets.

The Supreme Resolution N° 148-2015-PCM authorizes Minister Magali Silva's travel on May 20-26. In this sense, the Minister of Housing, Construction and Sanitation, Milton von Hesse will be in charge of Silva's portfolio during her absence.

It must be noted the APEC Summit will be held in Peru in 2016.
