Peru's Housing, Construction and Sanitation Ministry on Monday launched a water and sanitation project in Chupaca province that will benefit some 19,000 locals.

The project required an investment of over S/25 million (about US$7.61 million) and was financed by the said Ministry.

The launching ceremony was presided over by President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski in the presence of Deputy Construction and Sanitation Minister Gustavo Olivas, as well as local and regional authorities.

At the event, the Ministry also presented the Andean region with a check for S/18,060,026 (about US$5.5 million) to finance further urban and rural sanitation public investment ventures throughout Junin region. 

Deputy Minister Olivas affirmed said transfer contributes to President Kuczynski administration's goal to reach 100% water and sanitation coverage for all Peruvian households.

Finally, the Ministry granted title deeds to 1,014 families from several Junin provinces.
