Peru's San Juan de Marcona area became the scene of a rough stage last Tuesday.
Not only that, it was deemed Dakar Rally 2018's longest route so far.
Featuring a 300 km special, the fourth stage put participants to the test, as they had to avoid loose and mushy land, as well as face the area's strong wind.
The photo gallery above shows moments of such race, which took place in one of Peru's southern mining areas.
As is known, Dakar 2018 kicked off last Saturday
in Lima at Peruvian Army Headquarters, also known as Pentagonito.
Afterwards, the competition will continue its journey through Bolivia and Argentina.
