Peru's copper production reached a 40.77% increase in September 2015 compared to the same month the year before.

Energy and Mines (MEM), copper production totaled 148,216 fine metric tons; one of the highest figures registered over recent years.

This growth is mainly due to the sustainable recovery experienced by Antamina Mining Company's yield.
It must be noted the corporation is Peru's leading copper producer.

To date, the said enterprise has displayed a positive performance, which led to a 37.47% expansion compared to the same period in 2014, Mining Section General-Director at the MEM Marcos Villegas explained.

Throughout 2015, production at Constancia and Toromocho totaled 68,328 and 128,999 metric fine tons, respectively.

“Additionally, a better performance at Antapaccay mine has been registered, through a 91% growth in [said] the month,” Villegas underlined.

Zinc, lead and silver growth

On the other hand, zinc, lead, silver and molybdenum production also recorded important increase last September.

With regard to lead (10.48%) and zinc (20.75%), growth was possible due to the outstanding performances at polymetallic mines, as well.

At the same time, silver production expansion (13.85%) was registered at Antamina and Buenaventura mines.
