The Government of Peru has strongly condemned North Korea's latest launch of a long-range ballistic missile.

In a release, Peru's Foreign Affairs Ministry said North Korea's nuclear weapons program poses a threat to international peace and security.

In addition, it affirmed the test constitutes North Korea's repeated violation of the United Nations Security Council resolutions.

Thus, the Government of Peru once again urges the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to accede to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) and cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to facilitate the inspection of its nuclear facilities.

"Peru is firmly committed to implementing resolutions of the U.N. Security Council, to which it will adhere as non-permanent member starting 2018," reads the release.

Likewise, the Inca nation urges the resumption of the Six-Party Talks for the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula.
