Peru at SWTF
The Andean country showcased the best of its tourism offer with a Machu-Picchu-inspired pavilion, captivating international tourists —mainly Chinese— eager to discover and experience Peruvian wonders.
The national delegation was composed of Ocex Shanghai's Economic and Commercial Counselor Vladimir Kocerha, as well as representatives of national firms like Calypso Reps SAC, Jaguar Aventura Tours, Mickey Tours, Sunshine International, Tianma Vacations and Viajes Pacifico.
The latter offered tour packages and services to their Chinese counterparts, as well as to other Asian countries.
Chinese tourists in Peru
To date, China has become Peru's second-largest Asian tourist feeder, only behind Japan.
"At current growth rates, we expect the arrival of close to 35,000 Chinese tourists by end-2017," Mincetur projected.
It is worth noting the visa waiver for Chinese nationals holding a U.S., Canada, UK, Australia, or any Schengen State visa has contributed to such growing interest in Peru.
