Peru's star striker and captain Paolo Guerrero joined celebrations following the national soccer team's qualification for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

As is known, Peru defeated New Zealand (2-0) in Lima last Wednesday.

Via Facebook, the Peruvian athlete expressed his delight to see his beloved red-white returning to a World Cup by stating "everybody's dream has become a reality."

"Today, we are more united than ever before. We are in Russia," the post reads.

It must be noted Peruvians have not participated in a World Cup event since 1982.

As is known, Guerrero was not allowed to take part in any of the intercontinental playoff matches given the 30-day suspension imposed on him by governing body FIFA.

In the first leg held in Wellington last Saturday, both teams saw a 0-0 draw

As for the return match, the Peru-New Zealand clash ended 2-0 in favor of the Incas.

In this sense, goals from Jefferson Farfan (27th minute) and Christian Ramos (65th) were enough to secure the 2018 World Cup tournament's last spot.
