Pacific Alliance (PA) and Southern Common Market (Mercosur) representatives held a deputy-ministerial meeting in Lima to seek for spaces to develop common initiatives on trade and integration.

The Pacific Alliance —bloc composed of Mexico, Colombia, Chile and Peru— moves towards the free circulation of goods, services, capital and people.

Mercosur is a regional integration process uniting Brazil, Venezuela, Bolivia, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay aimed to create business opportunities for the benefit of members.

Both economic blocs agreed to exchange information and hold a technical meeting aimed at exploring coincidences in trade facilitation, customs cooperation, accumulation of origin, as well as Foreign Trade Single Windows (VUCEs) and commerce promotion, among others.

Thus, such official events prove that PA continues moving forwards towards fulfilling one of its goals set in the Framework Agreement, focused on establishing an articulation and economic integration platform within the region.

According to Peru's Foreign Trade and Tourism, achievements reached at other forums —as is the case of the Latin American Integration Association (Aladi)— will also be recognized.

This way, progress will contribute to building consensus between both entities.
