Some 200 businessmen from the Pacific Alliance will head to Santiago, Chile, to take part of the first meeting of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) from Peru, Mexico, Colombia and Chile.

The event will be opened by Chile’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Heraldo Muñoz, and will feature experts from Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and Santander Bank.

Hosted by ProChile, in cooperation with Procolombia, Promexico and Promperu, the event will be held at Gabriela Mistral Cultural Center.

“We have arranged a seminar, business meetings between buyers and SMEs with export potential, technical visits and a networking event,” ProChile’s Director Roberto Paiva was quoted as saying by Prensa Latina.

The meeting, entitled "New Exports of the Pacific" is the prelude to the Third Macro Business Conference scheduled for June 17-18 in Paracas, Peru.

In 2014, Chile brought the first rapprochement between the Pacific Alliance and Mercosur, in a bid to smooth things out and foster a climate of confidence between the two active blocs in international trade.
