Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCR) has issued on Wednesday the twenty-first (S/.1.00) 1 Sol coin of the Numismatic Series "Wealth and Pride of Peru." This time depicts the architecture of Moquegua region.

The Central Reserve Bank announced that 12 million coins have been minted and put into circulation. They are legal tender and can be used for any transaction.

The obverse of the coin bears at center the National Coat of arms above the inscription “Banco Central de Reserva del Peru”, the year of minting and an eight-sided polygon that is part of the coin’s rim.

A group of slanted roof houses, typical of the Moquegua architecture, are displayed on the reverse side of this coin.

The reverse of the coin also features the logo of the National Mint on a geometric design of vertical lines and the name of the monetary unit over waiving lines.

The phrase “Arquitectura moqueguana S. XVII d.C.” (Moquegua architecture 17th Century AD) appears on the upper side.
