Mincetur presents hotel project portfolio worth US$241 million

Peru's Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) introduced 33 hotel projects, which demand investments worth US$241 million, to 200 potential investors in the framework of the SAHIC 2015 (South American Hotel & Tourism Investment Conference).

Tourism Deputy Minister Maria del Carmen Reparaz highlighted this series of initiatives went through "filters" to meet requirements demanded by this forum.

"Although these are private initiatives, they rely on Mincetur's support because these are complete plans […] They count on all corresponding guarantees," she told Andina news agency.

15 regions

According to Reparaz, these investment plans only comprise high-level hotel infrastructure development.

"Each project will demand an average investment worth US$7.3 million and will be executed in 15 regions,” she told.

Projects will be developed in Arequipa (3), Loreto (3), Puno (3), Ica (3), Cusco (2) and Lima (2), among others. These will also be executed in regions: Amazonas, Tumbes, Huanuco, La Libertad, Madre de Dios, Cajamarca and San Martin.

She highlighted that Mincetur joins the private sector's effort with domestic ¿Y tu que planes? strategy and tourist promotion campaigns launched in 22 countries, where Peru is constantly being promoted as a tourist destination. 

What is Sahic?

Deputy Minister Reparaz inaugurated the Sahic 2015, one of the most important meetings to promote hotels, tourism and real estate related businesses.

Sahic (South American Hotel & Tourism Investment Conference) is the annual international event aimed to promote hotel businesses and investments by showcasing innovative projects to interested investors from different parts of the world. Among investors are hotel chains, investment banks and private group representatives.

Throughout 8 years, Sahic has been held in several cities, such as Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro, Cartagena de Indias, Santiago de Chile, Lima, Bogota and Quito.

The event welcomes over 350 executives every year from the main international hotel and real estate consortia.
