San Francisco metal giants Metallica have announced plans to release a CD box set of 27 live sets, including spectacular gig in Lima, at the end of the year.

The legendary thrashers plan to celebrate the anniversary of their site LiveMetallica.com by making all their live shows from 2014 available in 26 double-disc shows, plus 1 single disc of Metallica acoustic.

“We want to keep it simple so we'll go in order of when the shows were played starting with Bogotá, Colombia, Quito, Ecuador and Lima, Peru from the March South American run,” Metallica wrote on their website.

The next three shows will be available next week and so on, rolling out three shows at a time every Monday.

“For those of you who want it all, we're also giving you a chance to pre-order a box set with all 27 shows included, which will ship in December,” said the statement.

There's that special concept of a volume discount and fans will have a box to store all their CD's in. CD's will be priced at the very clever price of $19.81 a pop with the box set at US$417.00.

Interested buyers can place their orders at either LiveMetallica.com or in the Met Store.

In addition, a few of those shows will also see a vinyl release, with Metallica fans invited to vote on which concerts will be pressed.

And for vinyl junkies, select shows will be released on limited edition 180-gram vinyl early next year, and Metallica want their input as to which shows they would like to see on vinyl.

Later, the band will take the top four that receive the most votes and press them up for fans to order in early 2015.  Voting will close on September 26.

The American heavy metal band returned to Peru to offer a great concert in Lima on March 20, 2014 at the National Stadium as part of their South America tour.

The first time they offered a concert in the Peruvian capital was in January 2010, which was considered one of the biggest musical events ever staged in the Peruvian history, bringing together more than 50,000 fans for the show.
