Peruvian Foreign Affairs Ministry's Decentralized Office in Cusco (ODE Cusco) arranged a cultural exchange visit involving Japan's central Takamaya city and Peru's southern Urubamba province.

The initiative was supported by Urubamba and Machu Picchu mayors, as well as Dominican order members.

Within the framework of the ongoing Twinning Agreement uniting both cities, the Japanese women-choir performed at San Pedro Apostol Temple, Machu Picchu Municipal Palace and Santo Domingo Church on August 14, 15 and 17, respectively.

Composed of 12 music teachers, said choir gave concerts featuring traditional and contemporary Japanese songs.

Likewise, musicians highlighted the regional, architectural beauty and cultural richness of the Andean site.

They also underlined the exchange had helped them deepen knowledge of Peru's history and affirmed the gained information will be shared with their students once they return home.
