United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Representative in Peru John Preissing described President Kuczynski's first 100 days in office as encouraging, mainly in light of the programs being promoted.

“The government's first 100 days have been highly interesting and encouraging. I see programs the current administration seeks to implement are generating expectations,” he told El Peruano official gazette.

Such programs include Serviagro (agricultural service platform), Sierra Azul (water harvesting program), reforestation programs and the improvement of Agrobanco (agricultural bank).

“I joined [Agriculture] Minister Hernandez to oversee the work of groups comprising 600 countryside producers, and I sensed a lot of expectations,” he underscored.

Nevertheless, he said, the administration now faces the complex challenge of applying all such initiatives along the first year in office, a period during which good intentions should materialize.

“The first 100 days serve to raise proposals or lay the foundations, but the first 300 days are critical since they demand results. However, I have faith in the government's actions; I see a lot of honesty and earnestness, and that's promising,” he stressed.

“To sum up, I can say the first 100 [days] are positive because they show an earnest commitment, as well as the government's confidence that things will be improved,” he concluded.
