European market offers good opportunities for exports of Peruvian natural products, including organic food, medicinal aromatic plants, flowers and live plants.

European consumers are mostly adults with a significant purchasing power who focus on quality rather than quantity, said Nicolas Mouze, DHL Express Europe Marketing and Sales Director.

“They are mature buyers with clear decisions, who prioritize consumption of healthy products,” Mouze stated.

He said their age is an important factor in their ability to buy healthy food, including quinoa, maca flour and chia, among others. These products are already part of the European diet.

As for textile demand, he continued, the Old Continent’s buyers seek more and more differentiation.

In this regard, Mouze underlined Peruvian textile entrepreneurs should opt for a quality brand to position themselves in that market.

Remarks were made during the conference "From Peru to Europe, what you need to know to ensure a successful export transaction," held by DHL and the Association of Peruvian Exporters (Adex).

Online shopping

He also highlighted the importance of online shopping, which is increasing steadily in the Old World countries, with rates of around 25%.

In this context, companies wishing to trade with that continent must create an online sales page.

Peruvian exports

National exports to Europe reached US$8.269 billion in 2016, up by 1.2% from the previous year.
