The development of public private partnerships (PPPs) in Peru is the largest in the region in terms of projects and investments, said the National Society of Industries (SNI).

The SNI held the round-table discussion “Experts’ Opinions on the Role of Public Private Partnerships,” which addressed the importance of this investment mechanism and its impact on improved services delivered by the State.

At the meeting, experts agreed that Peru is considered the country with the largest development of these types of initiatives, mainly because of the investment and number of projects.

According to Yaco Rosas, head of investment promotion at ProInversion, PPPs have gone through several stages that have been making those self-sustaining projects in traditional sectors come to a standstill and, therefore, gabs have been closing.

The government official thinks this has prompted the emergence of new sectors such as education, health and justice as a way to implement these types of initiatives.
