Peruvian President Ollanta Humala noted that 15 out of the 35 social programs implemented under his administration have been awarded international certification in each of their procedures, which is a huge step forward towards helping the poor in Peru.

During the closure of the discussion group “Economic Growth and Social Inclusion,” he said Peru leads economic growth and social policy engagements in the region.

“We have built 35 social programs, 15 of which have international certification, which is a significant step, as in other countries they [the programs] are handed over to the ruling party and turn into mobilization teams, but we don’t do that,” he pointed out.

He noted his administration’s commitment to make the State reach the country’s inner areas, and assured concrete achievements have been made on the matter.

“We take the State to inland regions; we have programs targeted on the rainforest, the highlands and the social sphere. A social program is believed to correct the social policy,” he stated.

For instance, he continued, more than two-thirds of families had access to drinking water under this policy, compared to the past, which constitutes “an unprecedented effort.”
