The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro Moros, on behalf of the Venezuelan people and government, sends cordial greetings to Peru on the occasion of its 193rd Anniversary of Declaration of Independence.

“Peruvians have chosen the path of freedom since that memorable July 28, 1821, following combined efforts of our great homeland Patriots, effort that would be crowned three years later with the glorious battle of Junín and the final victory in Ayacucho,” the Venezuelan government said in a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In this way, Venezuelan government and people, led by the Bolivarian legacy, reaffirm the deepest bonds of friendship, affection and solidarity between the two neighboring nations.

"The liberators and soldiers, who have come from La Plata, Maule, Magdalena and Orinoco, will not return to their homeland but covered with laurels, through triumphal arches, carrying Castilla’s military standards as trophies. They will defeat and free Peru or die instead: I promise you, Lord," liberator Simon Bolivar said on September 03, 1823.
