The United States was the top destination for Peruvian exports from micro and small-sized enterprises (MSEs) in 2013, the Peruvian Exporters' Association or ADEX has said.
According to data released on Wednesday, micro and small-sized businesses exported goods worth US$ 606 million to the U.S. in 2013, a 3 percent increase compared to a year earlier.
In addition, ADEX noted that sales to neighboring Chile jumped 11% to US$ 246 million last year.
On the other hand, exports to Venezuela, Ecuador and Colombia dropped 21%, 12% and 5%, respectively, in the same period.
The data also showed that non-traditional agricultural exports from MSEs to the United States declined 2 percent to US$ 239 million, while textile and apparel exports increased by 12 percent to US$ 111 million.
According to ADEX, exports from MSEs totaled US$ 1.82 billion during 2013, a decline of 6 percent over a year earlier when they reached US$ 1.9 billion.
