The 100,000 Strong in the Americas Innovation Fund will be expanded thus benefitting Latin American countries, U.S. Leader Barack Obama announced on Saturday.
President Obama launched 100,000 Strong in the Americas to underscore the critical relationship between broader educational opportunity and greater regional prosperity.
Expanding study abroad opportunities for students, future leaders and innovators, strengthens bi-national relations and better prepares young people for the 21st century global workforce.
In this sense, Mr. Obama highlighted support provided to the initiative by the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF) in countries Argentina, Colombia, Cuba, and very soon, Peru. Thus, the Inca nation would be the fourth beneficiary next year.
According to the U.S. Commander-in-Chief, increasing student exchanges within the Western Hemisphere will lead to greater understanding across the Americas. Besides, it will deepen the shared commitment to democracy, the rule of law and tolerance.
The North American leader made such remarks during an official meeting with youngsters at Lima-based Pontifical Catholic University of Peru within the framework of APEC Peru 2016 Summit.
