U.S. imports of Peruvian garment amounted to US$300 million in 1H 2017

U.S. imports of Peruvian garments totaled approximately US$300 million between January and June 2017, thus placing Peru on the 21st position in the North American country's global clothing supplier ranking, the Association of Peruvian Exporters (Adex) reported.

In the first half of 2017, U.S. garment imports totaled US$37.248 billion, thus representing a 5.2% decline over the same period last year.

However, Peru's textile shipments to said country expanded 0.2% during the first six months of 2017.

It must be noted the United States received 68.6% of Peruvian garment shipments between January and June this year.

In this sense, cotton t-shirts, shirts, undershirts, knitted dresses, among others, were the most demanded Peruvian products on the international market.

Brazil (3.3%), Chile (3%), Germany (2.9%), Canada (2.8%), Argentina (2.31%), France, Colombia, the UK and Italy are also Peruvian garment export destinations.
