This week a delegation of the United States —led by Second Lady Dr. Jill Biden— visited High Performance School (COAR) facilities in Anta province, located two hours away from Cusco city.

"You have the set of keys that unlocks the door of opportunity. But it’s up to you to seize the opportunity—to rise to the occasion," the wife of Vice President Joe Biden told COAR students.

"Your education allows you to learn from your teachers, from your independent studies, and most importantly, from each other," continued Biden, joined by U.S. Ambassador to Peru Brian Nichols.

As leaders committed to the country’s development, students and teachers shared their experiences, achievements and expectations with visitors, before their tour of COAR facilities.

Biden and Nichols encouraged students to continue to challenge themselves to make a difference in their school, their community and their country.

"I’ve been impressed by you. Keep going. Always believe in yourself," she stated.

The dignitary said she was impressed by what she had seen in Peru as part of her official visit.

Activities were carried out within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Ministry of Education of Peru (Minedu) and the U.S. Embassy, in order to assemble and improve academic experiences of COAR network students.

The U.S. officials toured Machu Picchu along with two COAR Cusco students, Diana and Alioska, who expressed their interest in Science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) programs.
