After holding a meeting with Peru’s Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Magali Silva, United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) senior officials affirmed Peru has become a world's gastronomic tourism model.

Remarks were made within the framework of the 21st UNWTO General Assembly held in Medellin, Colombia.

"We have held a very important meeting with Minister Magali Silva, since Peru has a very active role in the UNWTO. Nowadays, when gastronomy is addressed, one of the first names that emerges is that of Peru at the international level," UNWTO Director – Executive Secretary of Member Relations Carlos Vogeler expressed.

It should be noted the South American nation will host the 2nd UNWTO World Forum on Food Tourism to be held in Lima in April 2016, which will gather international community actors interested in gastronomy-linked tourism promotion.

"Gastronomy is the outcome of valuing our customs and cultural identity," the head of the Ministry underlined.
