UNESCO Director-General praises educational reform progress made by Peru

The Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization—UNESCO, Irina Bokova, congratulated Peru for its progress on educational reform.

The congratulatory message was given at a meeting Bokova had with Peru’s Education Minister Jaime Saavedra Chanduvi within the framework of the 38th session of the UNESCO General Conference, which meets every two years to determine the policies and main lines of work of the Organization.

During the meeting, Bokova highlighted how important it is that Peru continues to improve the educational quality decisively in the following years.

According to the Ministry of Education, Saavedra and Bokova also discussed the support UNESCO provides to actions aimed at enhancing the teaching career, one of the actions lines of Peru’s educational reform. 

Saavedra met with a team of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), whose representatives also expressed their support to educational policies implemented by the Andean nation.
