Unasur foreign ministers meet in Asuncion

The foreign ministers of the Union of South American Nations (Unasur) will meet on Saturday in Asunción, the Paraguayan capital city, for an update of the activities carried out by Unasur's councils.

María Emma Mejía, Unasur Secretary-General, will brief on the headway of the organization councils on energy, defense, health, social development and education, culture, science, technology and innovation, El Universal reported.

An update will be also made of additional councils, including infrastructure and planning, world drug problem, economy and finance, the working group on dispute settlement, and the electoral council, which is about to be institutionalized.

Peruvian Foreign Minister Rafael Roncagliolo is in Paraguay to take part in the one-day meeting.

The preparatory meeting of Unasur Council of Delegates ended on Friday with significant progress in institutional strengthening, human rights, budget planning in 2013, and Unasur's links with other organizations.
