"This is an opportunity to proudly celebrate the culture and history of your country," Ban Ki-moon said to the Peruvian President.
"It is also an opportunity to think about the role played by Peru in our interconnected world. I appreciate its contribution to the United Nations," he added.
Ki-moon said that the UN world program includes opportunities to shape the future, promote sustainable development and build a safer world and prevent crisis.
Ki-moon stated that he is aware of strengthening the United Nations to achieve these goals.
"I welcomed the contribution, dedication and effort of Peru in building a more peaceful and prosperous future for all," he stressed.
