Trips to destinations near Lima will increase by 30% due the coming long holiday weekend of June 27-29, the National Chamber of Tourism (Canatur) reported.

According to Canatur’s President Jorge Jochamowitz, couples, families, coworkers and classmates usually take short trips to the north and south side of Lima, which favors a greater trade flow within the area.

The most popular spots in the North include Santa Rosa de Quives, Canta, Obrajillo, Huaral; while Lurin, Ica, Chosica and Chaclacayo are great getaway destinations in the South.

“Trips will grow 30% this three-day holiday weekend as compared to a regular one. Camping holidays, short trips and tours to provinces not too far from Lima are expected,” he told Andina news agency.

Canatur’s head assured these journeys will definitely lead to increased trade at restaurants, hotels and various tourist-related businesses located in the surroundings of the city.

“This boosts the tourist activity and the economy. The most favored are small and medium-sized enterprises related to travel and tourist services,” he pointed out.

Thanks to the growth of the economy, he added, Peruvians have become big travelers who demand more quality in the service provided as compared to previous years.
