Looking for an adventure of lifetime? Men's health and lifestyle title Men's Fitness has published a roundup of the top nine adrenaline-inducing adventures in Peru.
According to travel writer Alexandra Baackes, Peru is a South American wonder country that serves up desert, jungle, beach, and mountains in equal servings.
"So whether you’re hoping to kayak across the world’s highest navigable lake or climb through the rainforest canopy at the continent’s most remote jungle lodge, this is the destination for you."
Presented as a slideshow, the range of activities on offer is amazing, fun and so varied that there is something for everyone, from hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu and paragliding over Lima to canopy climbing through the Tambopata jungle.
Other adrenaline-inducing activities available in Peru are kayaking through Lake Titicaca, riding an ATV in Paracas, standup paddleboarding in Cusco, sandboarding in Huacachina, surfing in Mancora, and going piranha fishing in the Amazon.
Hollywood Actor John Leguizamo reportedly became a big fan of eating piranha after going fishing for the tiny omnivores during a recent trip to Peru.
According to Hollywood.com, the Moulin Rouge! star took his family to South America to visit the Machu Picchu ruins and while they were in Peru, he decided to follow locals to the river.
"It tastes delicious - like trout," said the 49-year-old actor.
