"Superfoods Peru" brand launched in Germany

11:36 | Berlin (Germany), Feb. 8.

Peruvian Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Eduardo Ferreyros on Wednesday launched the "Superfoods Peru" campaign, a public-private initiative to further advertise the quality, variety and benefits of the country's food offer.

The presentation took place in Berlin within the framework of the fresh produce trade show Fruit Logistica 2017.

The world's main food fair gathers 3,100 exhibitors from 86 countries, as well as over 70,000 buyers and trade visitors from over 130 nations.

In this sense, the "Superfoods Peru" brand proves a new advertising stage for Peru's nutrient-rich food offer in Europe.

"The Ministry will incorporate this brand into more than 40 food-promotion activities in Europe, America, Asia and Oceania. These will be executed by Peru's Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru), foreign-based trade offices and diplomatic missions abroad," he said.

The promotion strategy takes into account the latest trends among customers and their concern for a healthier lifestyle.

Launching of the brand is endorsed by the private sector, represented by the Association of Peruvian Exporters (ADEX) and Lima Chamber of Commerce (CCL), among other guilds.

Germany-based Werder Bremen striker Claudio Pizarro, Peru's most successful soccer player in the Bundesliga, will serve as the brand's main ambassador in the European country.

Peruvian superfoods

The "Superfoods Peru" campaign will promote the following health boosters: quinoa, kiwicha, canihua, maca, yacon, chestnuts, carob tree, sacha inchi, Cusco's giant corn, purple corn, camu camu berries, cherimoya, soursop, lucuma, mangoes, grapes, tangerines and anchovies.

Well-known blueberries, asparagus, broccoli, avocados, pomegranates, cocoa and chocolates are also included.

The Inca nation enjoys a privileged status among global superfood producers thanks to its biodiversity, export capacity, as well as traceability and innovation through sustainable, transparent process chains.

Peru at Fruit Logistica

Peru's promotion activities at Fruit Logistica will include live performances such as cooking demonstrations by Palmiro Ocampo and Arlette Eulert, and Liberato Kani's hip-hop in Quechua.

The Andean nation will also feature a touch screen advertising display with the country's agricultural exports information, as well as a giant arpillera (hand-sewn textile picture).
