A group of South Korean education experts will arrive in Peru next year to share their experience and cooperate with Peruvian public schools in designing methodologies to improve teaching and learning of math and science in general.
This was established under the two agreements signed today by Peruvian Education Minister Jaime Saavedra Chanduvi and his South Korean counterpart Hwang Woo-yea, who also serves as Deputy Prime Minister.
According to the agreements, South Korea will assist Peru in the formulation of plans for the effective use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in different grades and levels of the Peruvian education system.
During their stay in Peru next year, the delegation will visit High Performance Schools (COAR) and those secondary education centers where the Complete School Day initiative is being implemented.
This way the two governments seek to promote, develop and strengthen the bilateral cooperation and, therefore, improve Peru’s education quality by ensuring their sustainable development on the basis of reciprocity and mutual benefit.
The agreement is pursuant to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) inked by the two nations on April 20 this year in a bid to sign specific agreements with emphasis on the promotion of ICTs, teacher training and student exchange.
Saavedra underlined that there is much to learn from South Korea, particularly in the field of distance education, since its geography is as complex as that of Peru, and its governments bet on education and ICTs to sustain progress. Now the said Asian country is one of the most advanced in the world.
The teaching of Korean language will be promoted in Peru, he added, in order to enable more students and professionals to visit South Korea seeking for training and increased high education standards.
Minister Hwang Woo-yea hailed the Peruvian government’s determination to enhance ties with South Korea and examine his country’s experience in the area of education.
“We are keen to provide the necessary support, so that Peru can accomplish its welfare and development objectives through education, which is the best way to achieve them. Let’s set up a committee with representatives of both ministries to implement the agreements as soon as possible,” he emphasized.
