15:00 | San Ramon, Dec. 15.

A man portraying Santa Claus arrived in a helicopter to a Peruvian Air Force Base in San Ramon and surprised some 500 children, who received gifts, chocolates and enjoyed a Christmas show.

The San Ramon district is located in the Chanchamayo province (Junin). The area has been hit by drug trafficking and violence.

The children, who came from rural areas, and towns located far from the province, were registered in advance to receive chocolate, toys and an admission ticket to a Christmas show.

Troop personnel and all divisions of the anti-terrorist base of VRAEM (Valley of the Apurimac, Ene and Mantaro Rivers) paused their work in order to draw a smile on every child this Christmas.

Many children were taken pictures with Santa Claus, who descended from a helicopter, greeted everybody and promised to bring gifts. After the Christmas show was over, the children drank hot chocolate, enjoyed Panettone and received toys.

Mirko Báscones Arroyo, Commander of the Air Base of San Ramon, thanked the support of some companies and people who believed in this Christmas mission.
