Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced Tuesday that his country will take part in the International Conference of Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Heads of Specialized National Agencies against the World Drug Problem, to be held in Lima in June.

After meeting his Peruvian counterpart, Rafael Roncagliolo, in Moscow, Lavrov said Russia welcomes Peru's initiative to host next month's international meeting on combating drug trafficking.

"We are glad to accept the invitation of our Peruvian colleagues to send a Russian representative to this event," Lavrov was quoted as saying by RIA Novosti.

The Russian foreign minister also announced that Moscow and Lima agreed to strengthen business and commercial ties.

"Russian businessmen will be willing to visit Peru. Of course, we must prepare well for that trip. The two governments will provide all possible assistance," he added.
