National School Nutrition Program “Qali Warma” initiated the distribution of a total 1,676 LPG kitchens to La Libertad region’s schools.
The said kitchens will ease the preparation of food, daily provided to children.
According to Qali Warma Executive Director Monica Moreno, the program has been "operating for three years by providing high-quality food to children."
The Ascope province is expected to receive 106 kitchens; Bolivar province, 52; Chepen, 36; Gran Chimu, 32; Julcan, 153; Otuzco, 311; Pacasmayo, 111; Pataz, 19; Sanchez Carrion, 392; Santiago de Chuco, 214; Trujillo, 153 and Viru, 97.
"This batch of kitchens distributed in La Libertad is part of a total of 20,234, which are being delivered at a national level with the aim of favoring 200,000 children," informed Mrs. Moreno.
The acquisition amounted to an investment worth over S/.20 million (about US$6.38 million). Some S/.1,700,000 (about US$540,000) has been invested in the said region.
Other regions, which schools have also been provided kitchen-kits, are: Amazonas, Arequipa, Loreto, Ucayali, Junin, Huancavelica, Huanuco, Cajamarca, Puno, Ayacucho, Piura, Tumbes, Apurimac and San Martin.
Qali Warma has been providing nutrition services to 3.1 million initial, primary and secondary level public-school students from native population centers and the Amazonia throughout the last three years.
