Puno Regional Government will invest S/.470 million (about US$147 million) in tourism-related works across the region through the Inkari Autonomous Authority project, the Regional Director of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Dircetur) informed.
“Execution of works will start in three months under direct control of the Inkari Autonomous Authority project, which was recently created by regional ordinance No 09-2015-GRP-CRP,” Dircetur’s head Henry Percy Catacora Mayta reported.
Communication roads will be built and improved through the Chasqui program, in a bid to interconnect tourist circuits along the region. Such project will last 5 years.
Most of the budget will be funded by the national government, and Inkari’s work will involve proposing and executing tourism development policies in favor of vulnerable sectors, and taking advantage of the tourism potential.
