Lima Deputy Mayor, Hernan Nuñez, greeted Princess Astrid of Belgium to whom he awarded the “Keys to the City” and named “Illustrious Guest” in recognition of her humanitarian work around the world, while in a state visit to Peru.

The municipal official welcomed the representative of King Philip of Belgium, who is paying an official visit and leading a trade mission of Belgian entrepreneurs, who are looking to strengthen economic and trade cooperation ties with the Andean nation.

“Her Royal Highness has been closely involved in humanitarian actions and in bringing progress to the health sector. In this sense, I’m convinced her presence in our country will lead us all to reflect on issues related to economic but, most importantly, social development,” said Nuñez.

Likewise, he highlighted the things this young democracy [Peru] has to learn from the Kingdom of Belgium, a state with a strong cultural diversity and that has built its national identity on the basis of its differences, through respect and consolidation of democratic values.

On the other hand, the Princess expressed her gratitude for the decoration and kindness she has received from Peruvian authorities so far.
