Peruvian prosecutor for money laundering cases German Juarez Atoche on Tuesday asked the Judiciary Branch to remand ex-Peruvian President Ollanta Humala (2011-2016) and his wife —former First Lady Nadine Heredia— in custody.
They are accused of allegedly indulging in money laundering and illicit association to commit a crime linked to the Odebrecht case.
Information was confirmed by Peru's Public Ministry via Twitter.
The request was made to judge Richard Concepcion Carhuancho, head of the First Preparatory Investigation Court.
The hearing is slated to take place Wednesday July 12 at 10:00 A.M.
According to him, the money was given by Odebrecht's former representative in Peru Jorge Barata.
German Juarez Atoche is responsible for investigating Brazilian firm's alleged contributions to Humala's Nationalist Party and Nadine Heredia's journals.
