President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski on Friday disclosed there are no plans to cancel his trip to the Vatican City to meet Pope Francis ahead of his visit to the Inca nation in January.
The announcement was made in a televised address to the nation on Friday afternoon.
According to the statesman, this visit "was very important, as our country is about to join the UN Security Council —an organization that has a key role to play in safeguarding international peace."
Additionally, the Head of State has called off other important meetings, including that with US President Donald Trump and multilateral organizations' representatives.
"My scheduled visit to the Vatican is still on the agenda, so I will meet Pope Francis to confirm his
January visit to Peru," he was quoted as saying.
