Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski on Friday affirmed the Inca nation has good prospects to become part of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), which is a key goal for the country.
OECD accession
Known for its high environmental, labor and transparency standards, the
OECD bloc gathers advanced economies, as well as semi-industrialized ones like Mexico and Turkey.
"
Joining the OECD would be important for us. It is a 3-to-4-year process, and we must improve all environmental and labor standards […]," he pointed out.
The top official noted becoming a member of the "developed countries club" takes time, and there are also members' views on new accessions to consider.
"I think we have a good chance [to join OECD]," he concluded.
