President Humala's approval rating climbs to 26%

A new presidential tracking poll conducted by GFK shows President Ollanta Humala’s approval rating at 26 percent, up four percentage points from last month.

According to the national urban survey carried out on August 24-27, President Humala's highest approval ratings are found in the East (42%) and central Peru (34%), followed by the North (22%) and the South (20%).

Meanwhile, his popularity among the population’s socio-economic segments A/B, C and D remains the same (26%), a percentage point higher than segment E.

A total of 1,499 people were interviewed and asked how they felt about the president’s performance. The poll was later published by La Republica daily.

In addition, the social work carried out by the Peruvian First Lady, Nadine Heredia, has seen a surge as well, rising from 22 to 29 percent.

Regarding Lima’s municipal elections, voting intentions favor Luis Castañeda Lossio (Solidaridad Nacional), who leads Susana Villaran (Dialogo Vecinal) 48 percent to 13 percent among likely voters.
