The Congress of the Republic of Peru authorized President Ollanta Humala to travel to Paris, France this weekend to take part in the 21st session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP21), where France will take over the presidency currently held by Peru.

The legislative resolution was passed last night with 86 votes in favor and four abstentions.

According to the document, the Head of State will be out of the country from November 28 to December 3.

While in there, Mr. Humala will leave the presidency of COP and pass the job to his French counterpart Francois Hollande.

The Peruvian leader expressed his hope that the meeting will result in binding agreements on climate change and the Green Fund will be strengthened.

Humala will also head to Toulouse in southern France, where Airbus headquarters are located. Airbus is in charge of the construction and effectiveness of the first-of-its-kind satellite to be operated by Peru, according to a deal signed with France in April, 2014.
