President Humala proposes BRICS nations inclusive growth agenda

Peru’s President Ollanta Humala proposes leaders of BRICS' member countries to develop jointly a broad cooperation agenda involving inclusive growth and sustainable productive development in Latin America.
Delivering his speech at the Sixth BRICS Summit held in Brazil, the Peruvian leader stressed that his administration’s commitment with social inclusion and sustainable development remains strong and clear.

He added, “We hope for this meeting to allow carrying out a working agenda among BRICS’ member economies and nations from South America with the aim of promoting mutual major investments and achieving sustainable productive development”.

In order to meet this goal, Humala said, it is required to promote a development model which incorporates the economic, social and environmental fields as its key fundamentals while in the center of its framework lies the human person and the ensuring of his rights.

Furthermore, the head of Peru’s State hailed the five presidents of the BRICS group for their pivotal role in the global political and economic stage and suggested them to pushing for multilateral negotiation processes.

“We should undertake joint efforts aimed at achieving sustainable solutions,” Humala said on Wednesday in his remarks to an audience made up of his counterparts from Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa and their respective entourages.

In that sense, he welcomed the support from the leaders of BRICS' nations to the upcoming summit of the United Nation’s Climate Change which is to be held in the Peruvian capital Lima by December this year.

Peru is set to play host of the 20th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 20) of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) where a fully written new worldwide agreement is expected to be launched.
