President Humala meets UN General Assembly President

Peruvian President Ollanta Humala met this morning with President of the 70th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, Mogens Lykketoft, who is in Lima attending the 2015 Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund.

The distinguished visitor was received at the Government Palace’ Caceres Hall, where along with President Humala discussed the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, as well as the observance and commitments to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

They also talked about the Climate Change Conference of the Parties and focused on the Peruvian vision of the 2015 Paris agreement as part of COP21, reviewed the state of negotiations and the joint actions to be developed in the coming months.

Among other things, authorities addressed peacekeeping operations, the situation of Syrian refugees and the Special Session of the United Nations General Assembly on the World Drug Problem.

The meeting also featured Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Ana Maria Sanchez and Environment Minister Manuel Pulgar-Vidal.
