President Humala calls on Israel's businessmen to invest in Peru

President Ollanta Humala invited Israeli entrepreneurs to invest in Peru, using the promising outlook for investment and commercial development the Andean nations offers, it was announced Wednesday.
The proposal was made at a business forum held in Jerusalem where the head of the Peruvian State met with leaders and top representatives of Israel's major firms to discuss initiatives to promote investment trade between the two countries and spark economic growth.

In this regard, Humala stated that the opening of a government trade office in the Middle East nation is being carried out with the aim of fostering the two nations' trade exchange.

Likewise, he announced the creation of a Peruvian-Israeli business council having as prime task to achieve an investment protection agreement.

During his remarks, the head of the Peruvian State talked about the most significant large-scale infrastructure works currently being executed in the country like the Majes Siguas II project.

"The massive irrigation project will allow to open up 38,500-hectare farmland and two power plants which are planned to provide 500 MW power generation," said Humala.
