Peruvian President Ollanta Humala received the credentials from new ambassadors of Turkey and Austria during a formal ceremony held at the Government Palace in Lima on Wednesday.
Ambassador Ferda Ackkerman from Turkey was the first to present his letters of credence to President Humala, who was accompanied by Foreign Minister Eda Rivas.

After the credential renewal ceremony, Humala and Acckerman held a private meeting.  Bilateral relations between Peru and Turkey are at an excellent level as both countries have begun negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement (FTA).

In late January, Peru and Turkey concluded the first round of negotiations for FTA. The next round of talks will be held in Lima, capital of Peru, during the first week of May 2014.

President Humala then accepted the credential letter of the new ambassador of Austria, Andreas A. Rendl. This year, Peru and Austria will celebrate the 150th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations.

Likewise, Peru is keen on streghtening the political, economic and technical cooperation with Austria, especially the economic and trade ties, as well as the dissemination of Peruvian culture in that European country.
